Veteran media expert Megan Thomas joins from CNN

Washington, D.C. – Avoq today announced that Megan Thomas has joined the firm’s growing Reputation Management team as Vice President. Based in Los Angeles, Thomas brings over 20 years of experience in media relations and strategic communications, expanding Avoq’s ability to serve clients across the country and marking a significant step forward in the firm’s growth, with offices in D.C., Chicago, New York and New Jersey.

Thomas specializes in media engagement and narrative development, helping organizations navigate complex reputation challenges with clarity and impact. Prior to joining Avoq, she built a distinguished career at CNN, where she most recently led coverage of culture and the entertainment industry. She also once served as a field and live producer for CNN anchor Wolf Blitzer. Earlier in her journalism career, Thomas served as a senior editor and producer covering global events, California economic and political developments, immigration, climate and the fast-evolving tech and media sectors. Throughout her work, she has established a reputation for crafting compelling stories that resonate across various platforms and audiences.

As Avoq continues to expand its reach, Thomas’ Los Angeles base reflects the firm’s commitment to serving clients in dynamic markets beyond Washington, D.C. Her presence in California enhances the firm’s ability to support existing clients in the region while building new relationships across the West Coast.

“Adding senior leadership talent in Los Angeles marks an exciting step in Avoq’s growth. Megan’s expertise will strengthen our client relationships in Southern California while positioning us to support organizations in new regions across the U.S.,” said Dan Sallick, co-founder and managing partner of Avoq.

“Working for a global news organization has given me a deep understanding of how stories unfold and engage audiences. At Avoq, I’m excited to use that experience to help clients build brand trust and credibility in an increasingly complex media environment,” said Thomas.

Thomas will report to Andrea Hagelgans, partner and co-lead of Avoq’s newly created Reputation Management team.

Originally from Minneapolis, Thomas is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Madison and earned a certification from the Yale School of Management’s Women’s Leadership Program.
