WE Communications announced the appointment of Matt Trocchio as senior vice president and general manager of its Austin office. The move reflects the agency’s continued investment in driving growth amid Austin’s booming industry ecosystem, which encompasses everything from space technology to clean energy to life sciences. WE’s Austin office also acts as a key lynchpin for the WE’s North American technology sector clients, including AMD, Honeywell and more.
“Matt was a clear choice for WE in Austin,” said Kass Sells, WE’s president of North America. “He brings passion to the job and has a proven track record as a powerful team and client leader and business builder, which is exactly what we need at this stage of growth with our Austin team and client base.”
Trocchio brings over a decade of experience in public relations, with an emphasis on technology. He most recently served as vice president at SHIFT Communications where he focused on driving business results for B2B and B2C clients through strategic, aggressive PR and social media campaigns. Over his career, he has worked on large brands including Salesforce, Novell and Sony Crackle, and was instrumental building awareness for pioneering startup brands like Cylance and Veracode. Trocchio was also a recipient of the Publicity Club of New England’s PR Practitioner of the Year award.
“While tech PR is my specialty, my true passion is team building,” Trocchio said. “WE’s innovative and creative team is what drew me to the agency—I can’t wait to jump in with this group and continue to elevate the WE brand across Texas.”
In his new role, Trocchio will focus on strengthening WE’s operations in Austin, nurturing the team of talent, and solidifying the office as a center of excellence for clients. He will also dedicate part of his time to driving client development across the agency’s key sectors of health, technology and consumer. Trocchio will report to Melissa Havel.
“Matt is a master of influence—someone who truly understands the power of a story to drive impact,” said Havel, EVP technology sector and general manager of WE’s Portland office. “We are excited about what he can bring to our clients and our team in Austin.”
