International Public Affairs Leader Ann-Nina Finne Joins Hill+Knowlton Strategies, Bolstering Firm’s Global Public Affairs Advisory Offering

by | Oct 19, 2022

Hill+Knowlton Strategies, one of the world’s leading public relations firms, announced the appointment of Ann-Nina Finne as Senior Vice President for Global Public Affairs. With more than 25 years of experience in the public affairs and communications industries, Finne bolsters H+K’s integrated communications and public affairs strategic advisory offering, helping companies navigate today’s heightened geopolitical risks and renew their license to operate amid today’s dynamic social, economic, and regulatory environment.

Finne joins H+K from Ingka Group, where she most recently served as Global Public Affairs Leader, overseeing IKEA’s public affairs teams, and working with the company’s more than 30 markets. In that role, she was responsible for geopolitical and financial market counsel, as well as for identifying strategic risks and crafting mitigation responses.

Finne brings to H+K a holistic approach to public affairs, combining her experience in corporate communications, issues management and government relations to deliver integrated strategies. As a specialist in public affairs and strategic communications, she has worked at the local, national, pan-regional, and global levels on policy issues, advocacy campaigns, leader engagement, crisis communications, and media outreach. Based out of H+K’s Amsterdam office, she will report to Global Chair, Public Affairs, Philippe Maze-Sencier, supporting clients across the global network.

“From geopolitical fore-sighting and analysis to successful navigation of the policy and regulatory changes imposed by both governments and new societal expectations, today’s leading international businesses have never required more from strategic public affairs,” said Maze-Sencier. “Ann-Nina brings her substantial risk management expertise and unique analytical abilities and insights to advise our clients on these critical strategies and implement solutions that change business outcomes.”

Prior to Ingka, Finne worked for international energy company E.ON, one of the world’s largest investor-owned electric utility service providers, leading corporate communications and political affairs for the Nordic countries and Poland. Before E.ON, she held various communications and media management roles in local and regional politics including the Governor’s Office, Malmö County, Sweden. Earlier in her career, Finne spent nearly 15 years in journalism, last with International Media Support, an international NGO working to support local media in countries affected by armed conflict, human insecurity and political transition, where she was program officer for the Arab world and China. Prior to this, she spent a decade working with the Finnish broadcasting corporation, YLE, in various journalistic roles from current affairs reporter, national anchor person, investigative journalist to war correspondent in the Middle East.

“There is a real urgency for companies to be prepared for today’s geopolitical disruptions. The holistic, 360-degree approach Hill+Knowlton takes in helping clients navigate their public affairs needs can have a tremendous impact on protecting reputations and generating value,” said Finne. “I’m delighted to join such a dynamic and growing global public affairs team at H+K and bring my experience to continue to shape how we support clients in today’s ever-changing geopolitical environment.”
