The Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum has appointed Brian Walker as vice president of corporate communications and external affairs. Walker will lead the institution’s communications strategy and external media relations, reporting to Museum President Susan Marenoff-Zausner.

Walker joins the Museum from United Entertainment Group, a division of Edelman, where he served as a senior vice president and the firm’s lead communications strategist. There he led a wide range of programs for clients, including the Empire State Building, Nissan’s Olympic sponsorship, the NHL’s Stadium Series, the 2016 PGA Championship, Johnson & Johnson’s 2014 World Cup sponsorship, GE, the NFL’s Head Health Initiative, and the public/private partnership between The North Face and the U.S. Department of the Interior, among others. Walker received numerous industry awards for his work.

“Bringing someone of Brian’s stature on is a wonderful achievement for the organization,” said Marenoff-Zausner. “As the Museum and its initiatives have grown over the past decade, the need for expertise such as his has grown along with it. Brian’s diverse background will help to further develop the institution in many ways.”

Prior to this, he led communications for NBC Universal Sports & Olympics, corporate communications for the NHL and marketing communications for the U.S. Tennis Association. He started his career in the media relations department of the New York Yankees.
