by | May 10, 2022

Narrative Strategies announced that Dave Dziok, a longtime corporate communications strategist, has joined the firm as Managing Director. Dziok has a dozen years of experience managing communications, media relations, and issue advocacy campaigns in both in-house and consultant roles. He joins the firm after serving as Director of Communications for Koch Industries and is the third addition to Narrative’s senior leadership in 2022. Narrative has also expanded its recently launched creative services team with another senior hire, adding Senior Graphic Designer Kelly Johnson.  The firm also announced the hirings of Sophie Rosen and Sydney Phillips as Strategic Communications Associates.

“Dave brings a wealth of corporate communications and public affairs experience to Narrative. He immediately provides our clients with invaluable insights on how to build effective strategies to enhance their reputations, execute their strategic communications goals, and win on the issues that matter most,” said Narrative Strategies Founding Partner Ken Spain. “Kelly is a strong addition to our creative services team and further increases our ability to offer a full scope of communications and campaign tools to our clients. As our firm continues to grow, we are proud to continue building a team of talented professionals with experience across numerous settings, including corporate, agency, political, government, and media.”

Dave Dziok comes to Narrative from Koch Industries, where he focused on reputation management, business and advocacy communications, and public affairs. Before joining Koch Industries, Dziok was vice president for Edelman’s public affairs group in its Washington, D.C. office. At Edelman, Dziok led award-winning campaigns for his clients. Prior to joining Edelman, Dziok served as communications director for Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-Minn.) and has worked on political campaigns in Virginia and North Dakota. He earned a bachelor’s degree in political science and public administration from Elon University.

Kelly Johnson has more than five years of graphic design experience and joins Narrative from the Republican National Committee (RNC), where she served as Creative Director. At the RNC, Johnson managed a stylistic overhaul of the committee’s visual brand and led a team that designed presentations, e-book publications, flyers, graphics, and other compelling editorial content. She previously worked at the Pinkston Group and Art Within, a non-profit media and arts company. Johnson graduated from the University of Mississippi with a bachelor’s degree in journalism.

Narrative also welcomes the addition of two new associates. Sophie Rosen joins Narrative from the Bipartisan Policy Center. She graduated from the University of Virginia with a bachelor’s degree in public policy and leadership. Rosen has interned for the Council for a Strong America, Rep. John Delaney (D-Md.), and the National Disability Rights Network.

Sydney Phillips re-joins Narrative after previously serving as an intern. She has also interned at the United States Department of Agriculture and the House Agriculture Committee. Phillips is a member of the University of Georgia Class of 2022, earning a bachelor’s degree in political science and public relations.
