Allen & Gerritsen Celebrates 2023 Donations in Honor of Employees

by | Dec 22, 2023

Forget branded thermoses that collect dust in the back of your cabinet and pens whose ink never seems to work. What about celebrating employees in a way that reflects their values and enhances their opportunities to make a real impact in the world?

Allen & Gerritsen (A&G), an independent, fully integrated advertising agency in Boston and Philadelphia, has always been fueled by the passion to transform the culture that shapes its audiences, clients, and collaborators. One of the agency’s favorite ice breakers is asking employees the question, “If you had a million dollars to make the world a better place, what would you spend it on?”

In 2023, A&G decided to take that icebreaker one step further and put words into action.

This year, the agency launched a new initiative to celebrate the work anniversaries of its dedicated team members each month. Instead of the usual employee fanfare like gift cards or branded swag, A&G started honoring employees’ anniversaries each month by donating on their behalf towards their philanthropic cause of choice.

As employee motivation drivers continue to shift and today’s talent opt for more meaningful perks rooted in philanthropy and social responsibility, A&G wanted to celebrate its community in a way that was most rewarding for them, and help deliver on its agency mission of helping brands do better, be better and show up in new ways to enable life to be better.

Today, A&G is proud to announce that over $50,000 was donated to nearly 40 organizations. Donations went towards investing in cancer research, building homes for the homeless, contributing to local animal shelters, planting thousands of trees, fighting for ongoing civil rights issues, donating to food banks across the world, and supporting families and youth across 38 organizations. From local non-profits like the Chelsea Black Community or the Philabundance Food Bank to national efforts like Asian Americans Advancing Justice or the American Cancer Society, if team members wanted to champion it, then A&G did, too.

“While we can’t give each employee a million dollars, our goal was to make their voices heard in direct, tangible ways, remind them of the importance of their individual passions and put into practice our collective vision of making the world a greater place,” said Andrew Graff, chief executive officer at A&G.

As the new year approaches, Allen & Gerritsen is thrilled to continue advocating for the causes its team members value, find new ways to support its community, and create a more equitable, restorative, and hopeful future for all in 2024.
