ScoutComms Honored as 2019 ‘Best for the World’ B Corporation

by | Sep 9, 2019

ScoutComms has been recognized by the nonprofit B Lab as a “Best for the World” company across three categories—Overall, Best for Workers, and Best for Community—as a result of its proven ability as a for-profit business to create an extraordinarily positive impact in the world.

This is the fourth year in a row that ScoutComms has been recognized as a Best for the World company since becoming a certified B Corporation in 2015, and the second year it has been honored in the most selective Overall category. Honorees are featured here.

ScoutComms is the nation’s leading communications, marketing, and research firm dedicated to providing services that support veterans and military families and is one of the few B Corps run by veterans and dedicated to supporting veterans.

Today there are more than 2,900 Certified B Corporations across more than 150 industries and 64 countries, unified by one common goal: to redefine success in business. B Corp is to business what Fair Trade certification is to coffee or USDA Organic certification is to milk. B Corps are for-profit companies certified by B Lab to meet rigorous standards of social and environmental performance, accountability, and transparency.

“We are thrilled to once again be named an Overall Honoree—it’s a goal we have been striving towards since we first became a Certified B Corporation,” said Fred Wellman, ScoutComms CEO and founder. “After four years as a B Corp, we know that we can achieve our business goals as a company while also positively impacting our employees, community, customers and the environment. We are constantly innovating and searching for new ways to make a difference. It’s an incredible honor to have these efforts be recognized and to have our positive impact once again recognized by an expert third party.”

The Best For The World Overall list is limited to businesses around the world that scored in the top 10 percent across all categories on the biannual B Impact Assessment. Honorees scoring in the top 10 percent of all B Corporations set a gold standard for companies using business as a force for good. ScoutComms made the list thanks to its exceptional work towards its mission of advocating for veterans and service members and empowering those who support them.

The assessment measures a company’s positive impact on its workers, community, customers and the environment, and must be completed by any company that wants to be certified as a B Corporation. All assessment answers are reviewed and verified by B Lab, the founder of the B Corp movement.

In B Lab’s announcement of 2019 honorees, B Lab Chief Marketing Officer Anthea Kelsick shared her thoughts on the significance of the 2019 Best For The World honorees in the wake of the growing attention on the role of business in society.

“B Lab is committed to uplifting Best For The World honorees year after year because they are proof that businesses play a significant role in the shift to a more inclusive, regenerative economy. The Best For The World honorees, and the entire community of B Corps, live that proof every day—voting for a new way to do businessby how they operate, the companies they work with, and more,” said Kelsick.
