Associated Press: hires Michael Hudson (@michaelwhudson) as Global Investigations Editor.

Los Angeles Times: hires Lewis Dvorkin (@lewisdvorkin) as Editor-in-Chief, replacing Davan Maharaj, who left.

New Yorker, The: hires Adam Entous (@adamentous) as a Staff Writer.

New York Times: appoints Jessica Bennett (@jess7bennett) as Gender Editor, effective Oct. 30. The move is part of a new initiative to cover “how gender shapes the lives of people across the globe.”

Time: hires Molly Ball (@mollyesque) as National Political Correspondent, effective Oct. 30.

Wall Street Journal: promotes Stephen Wisnefski (@wisnefski) to Editor of Professional News. Nikki Waller (@wallernikki) is now Editor of Live Journalism and Special Content.

Washington Post: promotes Matea Gold (@mateagold) to a new role as an Editor on the political enterprise and investigations team.

Broadcasting

CNBC.com: hires Assistant Managing Editor Lorie Konish (@LorieKonish) as a Personal Finance Reporter.

KSDK-TV: Karin Movesian (@ksdknews) has left.

Spectrum News: Rick Willis (@SpecNewsRDU) has retired.

Business and Commerce

Quartz: launches Quartz at Work, a channel covering career and workplace topics. Contributors include Oliver Staley.

Sacramento Business Journal: hires freelancer Sam Boykin (@ManagingEdSBJ) as Managing Editor.

Consumer Lifestyle

Bustle: hires Amanda Chan (@amandalynncee) as Managing Editor.

Culture, Entertainment and the Arts

Broadway News: hires Caitlin Huston (@hustonca) as Editor-in-Chief. The forthcoming publication will cover the theater business.

Essence: (@Essence) will reduce frequency from 12 issues per year to 10, effective in January.

Healthcare and Medicine

Outpatient Surgery: hires Brielle Gregory as Associate Editor.

Vertical Health: hires Angie Drakulich (@PharmTechAngie) as Managing Editor of Practical Pain Management, replacing Cornelia (Nikki) Kean, who is now freelancing. Drakulich was previously an editorial director for Pharmaceutical Technology and BioPharm International.

Politics, Government and Education

National Journal: promotes Ben Pershing (@benpershing) to Editor-in-Chief, effective at the end of the year. He replaces Stephen G. Smith, who will become Senior Editor for editorial projects for Atlantic Media.

Time Inc.: is reducing the print frequency of the following titles: Fortune from 16 to 12; Money from 11 to 10; Sports Illustrated from 38 to 27; and Entertainment Weekly. Time will reduce circulation to 2 million. The changes take effect Jan. 1.

Time Out North America: hires Rocky Rakovic (@rockyrakovic) as Head of Content.

Thirteen:fourteen: Emma Frew (@thethirteen14) has launched thirteen:fourteen, a website focussing on wellness, natural (green/clean) beauty and makeup, books, TV/film, music and real life. The website is updated Monday to Saturday and features articles and interviews, as well as product reviews. thirteen:fourteen aims to champion alternative living and wellbeing for the modern ‘new age’ generation.

Finextra Blog: Anna Milne has joined as Editor.
