Notable journalist and media industry moves:

The Washington Post: Marilyn W. Thompson joins as national weekend and deputy political enterprise editor.

The New York Times: London bureau chief Steven Erlanger will also serve as chief diplomatic correspondent in Europe. Ellen Barry moves from South Asia bureau chief to chief international correspondent in London; Jeffrey Gettleman replaces Barry, leaving his role as East Africa bureau chief. Ernesto Londoño, editorial board member, becomes Brazil bureau chief. He replaces Simon Romero, who moves to the National desk. Concepcion de Leon joins as digital writer for the Books desk.

The Atlantic: Alexis C. Madrigal, editor-at-large for Fusion, joins as staff writer.

CNN: Oliver Darcy, previously politics editor at Business Insider, joins as senior media writer.

CNBC.com: Leah Ginsberg, former deputy editor for Forbes, joins as senior editor of “Make It”. Kathryn Dill, former Forbes chief of reporters, joins as careers editor of “Make It”. Emmie Martin, previously Business Insider associate editor, joins as personal finance and lifestyle reporter for “Make It”. John Shinal joins as reporter on large internet companies beat. Christina Farr will cover health technology and biotech.

USA Today: Sara Sorcher, former deputy cybersecurity editor for The Christian Science Monitor, joins as White House editor.

Politico: Stephanie Beasley, transportation reporter for Bloomberg News, joins as transportation security reporter.

Jacksonville Business Journal: David Sillick, publisher, will retire on June 1.

Men’s Health: Valerie Goldstein joins as weight-loss columnist.

The Verge: Walt Mossberg, executive editor/columnist, will retire in June.

NPR: Alice Fordham, international correspondent, leaves.

The Trace: Sarah Ryley, formerly with New York Daily News, joins as investigative reporter.

Drug Topics: Mark Lowery leaves position of editor to become editor for The Title Report.

AARP The Magazine: Stephen Perrine, former editor-in-chief of Best Life, joins as executive editor.

Columbus Dispatch: Glenn Sheeler, editorial page editor, leaves.

WMAQ-TV (Chicago, IL): Tracy Davis, previously news director for WDJT-TV (Milwaukee, WI), joins as assistant news director.

DNAinfo: John Ness, editor-in-chief, leaves.

SmartCEO: ceases publication.

Maclean’s Magazine: Paul Wells, previously national affairs columnist for Toronto Star, returns to Maclean’s as senior writer.

Canadian Press: Mia Rabson, former Parliamentary bureau chief for Winnipeg Free Press, joins as energy and environment reporter in Ottawa.

The Chronicle Herald: buys all Atlantic Canadian Transcontinental papers.

Rogers: Ken Whyte, president of Rogers Publishing Company, resigns.

CBC: Roberto Rocha joins as CBC investigative data journalist.

Financial Post: Alicja Siekierska, former Toronto Star reporter, joins as transportation reporter.

National Post: Maura Forrest, previously with Yukon News, joins the Ottawa bureau. Contributor Lauren Heuser joins as comment editor.

CBC Nova Scotia: Frances Willick, formerly with The Chronicle Herald, joins as reporter.
