Conversation US: hires Beth Daley (@BethBDaley) as Editor and General Manager. The non-profit media outlet produces explanatory content that’s written by academics, edited by journalists, and aimed at the general public.

Los Angeles Business Journal: hires Erica Phillips (@LABJnews) as Managing Editor.

New York Times: promotes Connor Ennis (@ennisnyt) to a new role overseeing reporters covering retail business and other topics.

Philadelphia Inquirer: plans an April launch for “The UpSide,” a Sunday print section focusing on uplifting, solutions-oriented stories in the area. It’s inspired by the “Inspired” section that the Star Tribune (Minneapolis) launched in 2018. Columnist Ronnie Polaneczky (@RonniePhilly) will lead editorial coverage.

Reuters: Jim Finkle (@Reuters) leaves to become Director of Social Media and Influencer Strategy at Palo Alto Networks.

Washington Post: hires Greg Bensinger (@GregBensinger) as an Artificial Intelligence and Algorithms Reporter in San Francisco, effective March 25. He will focus on how tech companies use AI and algorithms to “influence what we buy, where we live and with whom we work.”

Broadcasting

CNBC.com: hires Kif Leswing (@kifleswing) as a Reporter covering Apple and other hardware companies. He begins this month at CNBC headquarters and will move later to the San Francisco bureau.

Crunchbase News: hires Natasha Macarenhas (@nmasc_) as a Reporter covering venture capital and technology.

Denver Business Journal: moves Andrew Dodson (@denbizjournal) to the real estate beat.

Fatherly: Donna Freydkin (@FatherlyHQ) has been appointed Commerce Editor.

Saveur: hires Frances Kim (@SAVEURMAG) as Digital Editor.

Healthcare and Medicine

Henry J. Kaiser Family Foundation: and the Missouri Foundation for Health have inked a deal to launch a Midwest bureau of Kaiser Health News (KHN) in St. Louis (@KaiserFamFound). Stories produced by the bureau will be freely available to media outlets in the region and elsewhere in the U.S. KHN is currently advertising for three positions there: a Missouri editor/correspondent, Missouri correspondent, and Missouri data reporter. The bureau will also work with freelancers.

Modern Healthcare: hires Jessica Kim Cohen (@JessicaKimCohen) as a Reporter covering information technology.
