Christmas came early for marketers across the globe last month, as the long-awaited Pinterest Predicts Trends Report for 2024 was finally released.
An essential report for any brand planning ahead for 2024, the popular picture-pinning platform has highlighted an array of trends anticipated to take the world by storm, utilising rising global search trends from its near 500 million users.
The report has forecast 23 trends in total, which span an array of sectors from beauty and fashion to interiors and travel. Here, the Hatch Lifestyle team has highlighted five of its favourite emerging trends that brands should have on their radar—let’s dive in!
Bold in Blue – Ruby, Junior PR Account Manager
“Pinterest is often used as a hotspot for users discovering new looks to try out, alongside finding new products and developing an ultimate beauty regime. 2024 is set to be a year of all things blue, with both millennials and Gen Z throwing it back to the 60s to incorporate everything aquamarine into their modern beauty routines. With searches for ‘aqua make-up look’ up by +100%, beauty brands have the perfect opportunity to capitalise on this trend, from promoting pastel blue eyeshadows to cobalt blue nails.”
Hot Metals – Josee Mallon, Social Media Executive
“Industrial beauty is trending thanks to trailblazers within the beauty industry such as Isamaya French and her namesake brand, Isamaya Beauty—a leader in the beauty revolution that is currently taking place. We can expect to see Gen Zs disrupt hegemonic beauty standards through defiant and unconventional trends such as metal corsets and metallic nails, for both of which searches were up by +35 percent and +295 percent respectively.”
Bow Stacking – Alice M, Junior Social Account Manager
“It’s a bow thing and it’s only just getting started! From silky red bows adorning glossy curls over the festive period to dainty necklaces and elevated heels; millennials and Gen Z have gone bow crazy with searches rising by 40 percent for heels with bows and an incredible rise of 190 percent for searches of bow outfits.”
Groovy Nuptials – Olivia, Senior PR Account Executive
“When planning to host a celebration, from a big birthday party to a wedding, we all look for inspiration on Pinterest. Going retro is making a comeback, and 70s-inspired weddings are set to be a hot trend in 2024. There’s already a rise in searches by brides in planning looking for inspiration, with 170 percent increase in searches for groovy weddings and 110% increase in groovy hen party outfits.
“This is the perfect opportunity for any event brands, hospitality brands and smaller independent brands to jump on this trend with any wedding décor and hospitality.”
Make it Big – Beth Horner, PR Account Manager
“We’ve seen statement hair and jewellery going big in 2023 and it’s exciting that this is going to continue. Searches for ‘chunky hoops’ have increased by 45 percent and searches for ‘sculptural jewellery’ are up by 75 percent so it will be interesting to see how jewellery brands capitalise on these trends through new product launches. It’s also set to bubble over into hair and beauty trends, so we’ll see big hair, big hoops and bold make-up looks in 2024.
“It’s a great opportunity for beauty, haircare and jewellery brands to jump on this trend and see how they can get on board in 2024.”
Overall, the Pinterest Predicts Trends Report provides some fantastic insight into trends that are set to take the world by storm in 2024.
