Network marketing, also called multi-level marketing businesses, can benefit greatly from social media. In fact, social media is now considered one of the most valuable marketing assets for all brands. This is especially true for entrepreneurs and small business owners.

It’s easy to access, millions of people use it every day, and if you avoid paid advertising, it’s a free way to market your business. However, the question is how to use social media effectively to grow your MLM business.

To date, many businesses have used social media for MLM benefits, including Young Living founder D Gary Young. Now is the time for you to do the same.

Create a professional and consistent image

It’s a good idea to hire a professional photographer and capture a few pictures of yourself. Make sure the photo is of you, rather than your company logo, your baby, or your pet.

A picture of you looks personal. People will relate more to other people than they are a logo or brand. It gives the perception that the brand is used by people who are like them. Another benefit of using a picture of yourself to promote your new MLM business is to brand yourself.

For example, if you left the company or if the company happens to go out of business, you don’t have to start completely over if you choose another MLM brand to work with. You can add other brands to your business too. For example, you could branch into the fitness industry from skincare or vice versa. By making it about you, you have more flexibility and options. Doing this will also make your business seem less spammy.

Don’t spam

Most MLMs will get a bad name because of what they are perceived as. Try to put yourself in the same position. If someone continues to post or message you to join their team, it will become annoying. No one is going to buy from you if you are annoying.

When you begin using social media for your MLM business, make sure you don’t send direct messages to someone who only messaged you once or tag everyone on your friend’s list when you post something. You also want to avoid auto-direct messages and make sure you don’t share everything on your personal profile.

Attract, don’t repel

One of the worst things you can do when growing your network marketing business is to sell. While you are in the business to sell, there are better ways to do this. This is referred to as attraction marketing.

If you have been in network marketing for a while, you know how this works. Attraction marketing is when you make your brand so attractive that your customers will come to you instead of having to go after them. Don’t push your product and show them a lifestyle they want to have.

Build curiosity around what you offer

This is a tip that most network marketers don’t follow. However, it can be a huge ticket to your growth on social media when done properly. A tip to use in this case is to avoid mentioning the name of your network marketing brand through social media—just don’t do it.

A better strategy is to build up curiosity about it. Post about your feedback and results. Take time to post reviews and tips. Humor your audience and provide them with information about what you offer. Let your customers wonder about what you offer and what is being used. When you do this, your customers will start to come to you—you don’t have to go to them.
